I can apply art techniques and principles to solve specific visual arts problems.

I have been excited to do this pencil project since the first time I saw someone’s completed project. The reason I choose a narwhal is because they are very unique animals and my favorite animal. Plus I was very excited to make the narwhals horn out of pencils.
The main issue I faced was trying to make a single light coming down on the narwhals and applying this to the actual pencils. With help shading I was able to make the shading look better. Another problem that I had making this piece was trying to make every pencil distinct and noticeable in its own way. This was hard because I didn’t use shading as my most distinctive way of making each pencil unique.
I am very proud of this work. Compared to other pieces that I have done this year this piece has the uniqueness that I try to apply to the things that I make. I am happy that this was one of the last things I get to make in high school, and it was so worth the wait.
